What it means
The table flip is anger performed rather than expressed — which is what makes it usable. Sending it says “this is the point at which a cartoon character would flip a table,” and the cartoon framing signals that you are not, in fact, about to do anything. It's the standard reaction to a bug that reappears, a form that clears itself, or a plan changed for the third time.

Every kaomoji is borrowed type. None of these characters were designed to be part of a face.

The table is assembled from the Unicode box-drawing block — characters designed in the 1980s for terminal user interfaces, where they drew window borders and separators. Their heavy strokes were meant for frames; here they read as furniture. The inversion is the whole joke: ┻━┻ is a table shown from underneath, mid-flip, while ┬─┬ is the same table upright.
How to type it without breaking it
Copy the whole line. Box-drawing characters are standard Unicode and render correctly almost everywhere, but they are effectively impossible to type by hand without a character picker. The spacing matters — the gap before ︵ is what makes the table look thrown rather than attached.
When to use it
Bug reports, group chats, and any moment where the honest reaction is disproportionate and you'd like to say so with a wink. Because the anger is so obviously performed, it de-escalates as often as it vents. Follow it with the unflip when you're ready to be reasonable again.
