What it means
The unflip exists only as a response. Someone flips a table; you put it back. It reads as deadpan — not scolding, not sympathetic, just the quiet colleague righting the furniture while the other person catches their breath. In practice it's one of the gentlest ways to signal “I hear you, and also, let's not.”
Where each character comes from
Every kaomoji is borrowed type. None of these characters were designed to be part of a face.
| Char | Code point | Unicode name | Role in the face |
|---|---|---|---|
| ┬ | U+252C | BOX DRAWINGS LIGHT DOWN AND HORIZONTAL | Table legs, correctly oriented this time. Light strokes rather than heavy — a calmer table. |
| ─ | U+2500 | BOX DRAWINGS LIGHT HORIZONTAL | The tabletop. |
| ノ | U+30CE | KATAKANA LETTER NO | The arms, lowered — one placing the table, one at the side. |
| º | U+00BA | MASCULINE ORDINAL INDICATOR | Flat, unimpressed eyes. |
A direct answer-form to the table flip, built from the same box-drawing block but using the light-stroke variants (┬─┬) rather than the heavy ones (┻━┻). The weight change is doing real work: the flipped table is drawn in bold because it's mid-air and loud; the restored table is drawn thin because the moment has passed.
How to type it without breaking it
Copy it. The ノ is Japanese katakana “no”, borrowed for its hooked shape, and the º is the masculine ordinal indicator — neither is reachable from a normal keyboard without a picker.
When to use it
Reply to a table flip. Reply to a friend's overreaction. Use it when the funniest available move is to say nothing and tidy up. Sending it unprompted, with no flip to answer, reads as slightly ominous — which some people do on purpose.
